LOCAL PEOPLE
The people of Mozambique are friendly. Your visit to João Belo brings money into the community, for which they are very grateful. When driving around, please wave at the people. It’s a good thing to do.
STAFF
Our staff are there to assist you. On top of their daily responsibilities, they will be happy to help you with things like putting up or taking down your tent, washing your dishes and clothes etc.
VEHICLES
Please adhere to the 20km per hour speed limit on the road between Joao Belo and Xai Xai. Please ensure that you slow down when driving through the villages (the schools are close to the road as well as children playing and animals roaming). Please deflate your tyres to 1 Barr (1KPA). This will make your trip easier, save fuel when driving through thick sand as well as keeping the road in a usable condition.
Driving on the beach is not permitted in Mozambique.
ABLUTION BLOCK
Hot water is available. Please note that we use a donkey to heat water. Our toilets are connected to a septic tank. Please do not flush anything other than human waste.
Bins are provided for all other waste. Please do your best to conserve water as we use ground water which is limited.
DRINKING WATER
Our pit water is safe to wash in, but we advise that you drink bottled water.
ACCOMMODATION
We have 2 decks, fitted with a bathroom and a kitchen, have a bathroom and kitchen where you can pitch your tent.

Booking Essential
ELECTRICITY
We do not have access to electricity. We make use of solar power for the ablution bloc, restaurant and the decks.
We advise that campers use their own solar power. To maintain a tranquil atmosphere, generators are NOT permitted.
Freezing facilities can be arranged in Mahelene (about 5km from João Belo).

Ice can be bought at reception.
WOOD
Wood can be bought at reception.
BAIT
Bait can be arranged through management at a negotiated fee.
ARRIVAL
Please complete the Arrival Form in full. All payments are to be done at Reception unless payment has been per-arranged. Insist on a receipt.
